Eco Club
Our environment is an essential part of our life. A clean environment is very necessary to live a peaceful and healthy life. Here comes the role of Eco Club. Eco-Club is a paltform on which we get the knowledge about environment and how to conserve it. the Eco-Club of the college was established in the year 2015 under the guidance of the principal, Dr. R.R Kharkongor with Smt. S Dkhar , Assistant Professor in Environmental Education as the convenor of the club. Around 40 to 50 students registered every year and become members of the club, Assistant professors as well are appointed as member.
The Club have a great vision ahead of it and the motto of the club is "Serve to Conserve"
Objectives:-
1. To Make students understand the importance of environment.
2. Encouraging students to keep environment clean and green.
3. To motivate the students to help conserve the environment.
4. To create a clean and green consciousness among students.
5. To be a role model to others and to the community.
Pledge:-
I ___________________________ of Thomas Jones Synod College, an active member of the eco-club of the college pledge to commit myself to the preservation of the environment. I also pledge to dedicate my will and strength towards the well being of the society through the various activities of the eco-club. To this end, I solemly pledge that I will always remain sincere, hardworking and loyal to my duties.
Debate Club
The Debate Club was set up in 2014 with the aim to motivate students to develop the art of discussing issues rationally. Through the Debate Club, the college regularly sends students to participate in various debate programmes in the district as well as state level. During the past years the club was able to send students to different debate competitions and many have won prizes in the competitions. The club is looking forward to enable students and create confident and rational speakers.
Music Club
The Music Club of the college was set up in 2016 and was formed to encourage and to guide students with an interest in music. The Club hopes to identify students who have a passion for music and help them to participate in different levels of competition with in and outside the college. During the past year, the club was able to send students to take part in different kinds of singing competitions and many of them were able to win prizes in these competitions. The club had composed two songs - A Welcome Song and A Special Song for two special occasions, Graduation Day and Freshers' Day held on the 7th and 8th July 2016 respectively.
The Music Club is looking forward to the making of the College Anthem which is going to start at the earliest.
Theater Club
The Theater Club of the College was formed in 2015 with the objective of involving the students of the College and particularly English Honours students in Theater which is an important aspect of their course by giving them an opportunity of being involved in the creation and performance of plays. Literature students involved in important issues relating to society. involving students in iTheater is one of the most significant Art Forms. Theater is an entertaining and yet an important way in which students can build the medium of Self-Discovery and self-expression. It is also a perfect tool to relate and communicate with the other fellow students and the community at large. After all , Theater is that cultural space where people get to examine themselves and a space where voices can be heard. Theater is not just entertainment. It is a powerful tool to make and bring changes in the society. The Theater Club in the college was formed in the year 2015.
Cultural Club
The Cultural Club of the college was set up on the 2nd of September, 2016 with the aim of promoting and preserving the culture of our Country.
The main objective of the club is to make students understand and aware of the significance of Culture in their daily lives and also in the educational field. Culture and Education has a very intimate relationship as is evident from the fact that one of the major aims of Education is to impart to the students his culture heritage and Social heritage.
